Pear & Fig Crisp {Food Matters Project}

I was way more excited about Downton Abbey last night than the Superbowl but Beyonce killed it (in my humble and musical talentless opinion) and had me up off the couch dancing with her so overall it was a great Sunday night.  And I had one of these awesome crisps to make the evening even better!

This is my take on this week’s Food Matter’s Project recipe. Camilla chose this week’s recipe for Cardamom-Scented Pear Crisp. I was out of carmamom so instead I added fig and a little nutmeg and cinnamon. YUM!

And this was the perfect excuse to use my new mini cast iron pots.  They were an adorable gift from my aunt for Christmas!

Pear and Fig Crisp
1 bartlett pear, diced
4 black mission figs, diced
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp whole wheat pastry flour
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 c oatmeal
1/4 c  hazelnut flour
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 pinch nutmeg

In a small bowl, combine the pear, figs, lemon juice and whole wheat pastry flour.  Spoon the fruit mixture into small ramekins or pots. In another bowl combine the oatmeal, hazelnut flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter.  Cut the butter into the ingredients into well combined and the size of small peas.  Bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes or until the top is lightly browned.

    YUM! This looks really good. How was it? I have been craving figs lately, and this looks like the perfect way to use them.
